We are looking for an immediate, full-time, permanent position in APAC at Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

Job Purpose:

Develop and implement legal processes and procedures to identify and mitigate legal risks and protect DHL’s legal and business interests in line with business needs, established legal framework, standards, applicable laws and regulations; apply advanced legal knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and work experience; manage legal processes and perform independently with limited supervision. 

Job Scope

  • Provide support to all DHL Business Units in the Asia Pacific region
  • The portfolio includes:
  • (i) general legal advice;
  • (ii) review of contracts/legal documents;
  • (iii) support in managing litigation and legal proceedings;
  • (iv) legal awareness training;
  • (v) drafting and updating of local contract templates;
  • (iv) implementation of global legal strategy/tool(s)/policies

Your tasks:

  • Provide general legal advice and legal support to all DHL Business Units, and advise business colleagues on the legal risks of proposed business activities, practices and transactions;
  • Review, draft and negotiate legal documents such as confidentiality agreements, supplier contracts, customer contracts and leases, review RFQs/tenders (and prepare RFQ/tender responses where appropriate), check BCA approval conditions against near-final drafts of contracts;
  • Deliver legal awareness training to Business Units;
  • Support Business Units in managing litigation and legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities to protect organisation’s interests;
  • Keep the contract templates and other legal documents applicable to local businesses updated in line with company policies and guidelines;
  • Support to implement global legal strategy/tool(s)/policies at a country level in order to ensure effective use of common tools and consistent reporting;
  • Where appropriate and if requested, assist in procuring legal advice and external legal service in any area of law outside area of specialisation/competence;
  • Proactively advise line manager/cluster/sub-regional Legal Head and/or AP GBS Legal team members on any development in the law applicable to country/region and Business Unit and contribute (if requested) to the design and delivery of training courses on legal topics relevant to the business;
  • Perform other legal duties as assigned.

Your profile:

Education Level

  • Good law degree from a reputable local/foreign university

Experience Level

  • 3-5 years of legal practice in commercial law firm or in‑house legal department
  • Professional admission/qualification to practice in a relevant Asia Pacific jurisdiction would be desirable
  • Commercial pragmatism, ability to apply legal knowledge and expertise into business environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and proficiency in another Asian language would be desirable;
  • Good understanding of DHL’s business activities;
  • Attention to detail, independent and confident with good legal knowledge, as well as analytical and drafting skills
