Job Summary
The Lead Secretarial and Legal at Synechron is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the legal and secretarial teams, ensuring the company’s adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards. This position guides legal strategy, supports management with sound legal advice, and drives compliance to protect and add value to the organization’s business objectives.

Overall Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the secretarial and legal team, setting strategic direction aligned with Synechron’s policies and industry standards.
- Oversee and ensure legal compliance across contracts, licenses, corporate filings, and agreements.
- Provide sound and timely legal advice to internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust policies and procedures for legal compliance and risk mitigation.
- Ensure ongoing adherence to corporate governance and company law regulations.
- Monitor legal updates and regulatory changes; recommend and implement necessary adjustments.
- Manage the team’s performance, including mentorship and skills development.
Performance expectations: Ensure regulatory compliance, minimize legal risks, timely contract review and negotiation, and maintain a compliant corporate governance framework.

Experience Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in a legal or secretarial role within a corporate or regulated environment.
- Proven experience leading legal and secretarial teams effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with company law, corporate governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience advising senior management and working cross-functionally within an organization.
- Alternative qualifying experience includes senior in-house legal advisory or consultancy roles supporting corporate legal functions.
Day-to-Day Activities
- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts, licenses, and agreements.
- Provide actionable legal advice and risk assessment to internal stakeholders and management.
- Manage the ongoing compliance program including monitoring regulatory changes affecting the company.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that legal considerations are integrated into business processes.
- Make informed decisions on legal risks and governance issues and escalate where necessary.
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited institution (essential).
- Professional qualification as a company secretary or solicitor is highly desirable.
- Commitment to continuous professional development through legal education, certifications, or training programs.
