Job Description
As a Labour Law / Labour Relation Specialist for the Netherlands, you will oversee labour law and labour relation in the Netherlands, ensuring the implementation of global products, processes, policies, and guidelines. Your role will ensure that local laws, practices, and needs are thoroughly understood and considered while also facilitating alignment between global and local needs to achieve a common approach and delivery where needed.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide legal support, secure compliance, and represent H&M Group as an employer in the Netherlands
- Building and managing proactive, constructive relationships with local works councils and unions, as well as leading negotiations with the local works council
- Proactively interpret and apply laws, regulations, and agreements to secure compliance
- Be part of change- and strategic initiatives where Labour Relations/ Labour Law Expertise is needed and analyze and advise on solutions and give operational support
- Interpret and draft various employment agreements, contracts, and templates (systems: AFAS/Profit)
- Conduct and support arbitration processes and disputes
- Ensure that individual cases, internal investigations, incidents, and disciplinary actions are managed according to H&M group standards and local laws
- Support with immediate dismissals, reintegration, warning letters, official warnings, settlement agreements, termination requests and immigrant work-permit requests via UWV portal
- Support the local Grievance mechanism
- Monitoring the local legal landscape and sharing the input with local People Relation Manager and the global People Relation community of Expertise
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you need the ability to confidently handle challenging situations and make decisions. You can provide sound and persuasive recommendations and advice, and you recognize trends and areas for improvement. You communicate confidently, are assertive, and can influence others effectively. You are open and empathetic, allowing you to build trusting relationships to achieve shared goals.
What you need to succeed:
- An education within Labour Law (or relevant experience) and / or several years of experience within Labour Law / Labour Relation area
- Experience with works councils/unions, current knowledge of employment law
- Background in supporting transformations and implementing strategies
- Project management skills- organize, prioritize activities and deliver outcomes in a clear timeframe
- Maintain a broad, strategic perspective while identifying and focusing on operational details
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English

This is a fulltime position, starting as soon as possible. The role is a hybrid role, based in Netherlands.
